When Alyssa and Tyler suggested Badlands engagement photos, my hand was the first one raised. Sign me up!! The chance to shoot a super adorable couple in the middle of a National Park? Yes, please!
The Badlands National Park in South Dakota kind of comes out of nowhere while you’re driving across the interstate. For the longest time, it’s a bunch of prairie grass… farming… some cows… and then all of the sudden, you see this crazy desert-like area with amazing landscapes. They literally come out of no where, and are so different from the area that surrounds it. Which makes The Badlands perfect for the couple wanting something different for their engagement photos!
When we were planning for their Badlands engagement photos, we chose March 7th, and I thought to myself, there was really two ways that the weather could go. It could be decent, or the interstate could be completely shut down and we would have to reschedule. Never in a million years would I have guessed the weather would be over seventy degrees for their session! It was absolutely beautiful, and no wind either! I will take it!
One of the things that really made their engagement session special (besides how much this adorable couple obviously loves each other), is their outfits! Alyssa and Tyler planned their outfits so well that I’m not sure which was my favorite! The scarlet dress popping against the landscape of the Badlands… or their formal choices for their second outfit. These two have really proven that your outfit choice matters! To get that wow factor, it’s so important to put thought into your outfits. Their outfits paired so well with the landscape of the Badlands, I told Alyssa she might just become Pinterest famous! (Hey, a girl can dream, right?)
I hope you enjoy looking through these Badlands engagement photos as much as I enjoyed photographing them. It was a session that was one for the books – that is for sure!
