When I was first starting out, I always was looking for tips to book more seniors! Whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned pro, I think there are three main things you NEED to do in order to have a successful senior business!
This is one of my favorite tips to help you book more seniors, and I’m confident that you’re going to love it – especially if you love social media! And it’s freeeeeee.
Are you marketing toward seniors or their parents? Depending on what your target market is, you’re going to want to spend your time where they are! Find out if your audience is on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat… and meet them there! You have to go where your audience goes, so that you can put yourself in front of them.
A good rule of thumb right now is to find seniors on Instagram, and their parents on Facebook. Most seniors are not checking their Facebooks daily, but I know my parents are addicted to Facebook! However, we know that with the internet, social trends can change overnight, so make sure you’re keeping up with things and following your target market to their favorite social platforms!
Don’t over look this if you want to book more seniors! It seems so basic, but you wouldn’t believe how many photographers do not have a website. Your website is your online home, and you’ll need one for people to inquire with you! Additionally, if you want to be taken seriously (and get paid!), it starts with YOU. First start out by purchasing a domain (this doesn’t cost more than about $10 annually!), and create a website somewhere! I personally love my ShowIt website, but you can use WordPress or Wix for free! If you have a portfolio, make sure to post it on your website and to update it frequently! It’s a part of my workflow to add my favorite pictures to my portfolio after every senior session!
After you’ve built a website, make sure there is a contact form. This is how people will get a hold of you if they want to book! You’ll want to make sure this contact form is on every page of your website so that a client knows how to get in touch with you!
Next, post your website on your social media accounts! (Remember step one?!)
My final tip to help you book more seniors is to put yourself out there. Get involved with things! Join a club, start volunteering at church, heck, make friends with a teacher! You can’t just sit at home and throw a pity party that you don’t know anyone! Become friends with people, and put yourself out there! Some of my best referrals have come from my church!
Even if you consider yourself an introvert, you can still meet people easily. You just have to find what fits for you! Is there a small group (like a book club or special interest club) that you could join? Is there a place that you can volunteer at, like the humane society? Just because you’re introverted, doesn’t mean you can’t talk to people! J I know it might make your heart palpitate but I promise it gets easy every time you put yourself out there!
In summary, you’ve got this, girl! Just follow these three easy steps and you’ll be on your way to running your own successful senior business! I believe in you!

Boudoir photography celebrates all the ways your crazy beautiful body has held you up, moved you forward, and turned you into a woman who can get. it. done. Sis, that is something that should make you proud.
