It’s no secret that I’m a fan of alternatives to lingerie for boudoir sessions. It’s never fun to feel boxed into something that isn’t quite “you”. I think that is a universal feeling. If you’re feeling like lingerie isn’t your vibe, you are not excluded from boudoir photography. That’s why white button-ups are absolutely genius.
The reason our sessions have multiple outfits is, of course, for variety, but it honestly is even more than that! A lot of clients have never had a session before and even more may not wear lingerie in their day-to-day life. So, how are you supposed to know what to wear?
Well, first, we’ve got a blog post specifically for you.
Second, it depends on you and what you’re comfortable in! Anything that pinches, pokes, pulls in a way that isn’t fun for you is a no go. If you look in the mirror and don’t think the outfit flatters you? That’s a no go as well.
If you’re unsure, look around the house for things you love!
A few women have come in with the shirt-look for their session because it’s their husband’s and their session is a gift for not only themselves, but their husband too! You could even consider bringing in your favorite boxer briefs or your husband’s game day gear to make it even spicier!
Whether the photos are for someone else or all for you, you’ve got options. Have a favorite outfit you wear for your own risque photos? (If you like the way you look via cell phone photos then you’re going to love them as professional photos) And remember, I have a client closet with hundreds of pieces sizes X6 to XS for you to pick from as well!
The key here is not to overthink it. If you love it, love it loud. Here’s a love we got from this client:
“Anyone looking for a confidence pick me up should pick Emma for boudoir photos . She has an inviting space and makes you feel comfortable right away. She is funny and so incredibly kind. “
So whether you wear a white button up or lingerie (or both, like this hottie) – you deserve this experience.
Boudoir photography celebrates all the ways your crazy beautiful body has held you up, moved you forward, and turned you into a woman who can get. it. done. Sis, that is something that should make you proud.
