Something I see often on Facebook is someone in search of a senior photographer. That’s awesome, I’m glad you’re choosing to invest in a senior photographer! So many times I hear, “Oh, I’ll just have my mom take some. She has a nice camera.” *sigh* Ok, so maybe your mom does have a nice camera. And I’m going to ruffle some feathers with this next comment, but I’m gonna keep it real: Does she know how to use that nice camera? If the answer is no, then girl, come with me. I’ll tell you my top ten reasons why you should invest in your senior photographer. (Better yet, fill out my contact form and let’s grab a latte. We can discuss your senior session in person!)
Most of you have been in school for 13 years now; don’t you think it’s time to celebrate that? Your high school diploma is a big deal, and you’ve worked so hard to get there. You’ve put in late nights doing algebra homework, weekends for volleyball tournaments, and dedicated half of your summer to marching band. These accomplishments ought to be celebrated.
If I could do my life all over again, one thing I would like to tell myself is to not take high school for granted. High school was an absolute blast. You get to be with your friends all day long, lived life rent-free, were involved in fun activities like show choir, sports, and clubs… the list goes on and on. And believe me, you’ll want to remember how freakin’ cute you looked senior year. Invest in someone to help you capture your YOU -and I’m gonna help you look goooood, sister.
They say not to judge a book by its cover, and I’d like to think that scholarship judges don’t. But they always ask for a picture with your scholarship applications and frankly, don’t you want to look professional for that? Not to mention, people typically use their headshots from their senior pictures for their LinkedIn profiles. My friends got some pretty sweet interning gigs through LinkedIn. You’ll want to make sure your picture on LinkedIn looks professional and clean cut to land great internships as well!
Your family are your greatest cheerleaders! But let’s be honest, we all have those more distant relatives that haven’t seen us in years. They will be so excited to get an invitation to your graduation party, and they’re going to want to see how beautiful you look! Imagine how sad your Aunt Mae would be if there wasn’t a picture of you on your graduation invites!
Great photographers invest in their education, there’s just no arguing with that. They know the best poses, the best lighting situations, the best well, everything! They know exactly what to do to make you look your very best! A good photographer will be able to advise you on makeup, hairstyles, and outfits too! Take advantage of our plethora of knowledge, we’d love to share it with you!
Photographers know how to use their camera settings and editing software to make sure that your images are high quality. These are not going to be grainy, out of focus, or underexposed images. You’re going to be getting something you’ll be incredibly proud of showing off!
Ok this one might be a little partial to myself, but I’m sure other photographers can relate. Even when I take someone’s pictures, I feel like it’s an unforgettable experience for ME! We laugh and smile and joke. We can even stop in between locations for slushies if you want! I want to make sure everyone has a good time and has fun, when it comes right down to it.
Your photographer is going to know the coolest, secret locations for pictures. They’re going to know how to work their lighting (whether they are natural light photographer like me, or they use flash!) and they’re going to understand their tools. They’re experts at what they do, that’s why their job title says “photographer”! Trust them and their experience with their craft. You won’t regret it.
Ok so you’re probably thinking, “Yes, obviously!” but hear me out! There’s such a huge difference between having your mom take a picture for you and having your friend take a picture for you. Wouldn’t you rather have your friend who hypes you up, makes you feel like a queen, and gets you so confident that you just radiate joy and beauty? I might be able to help you with that. 🙂
