You could hear the hum of the snow plows in the distance. A blanket of fresh, flawless white snow now covered our town. Another snow storm had just hit our town less than 24 hours ago. We certainly lucked out for Tara and Ryan’s February engagement session. Even though it had just snowed, I would bet a good amount of money this was the warmest day of the whole month, and for a South Dakota winter, anything above freezing feels like paradise!
When Tara told me she thought February would be a good time for their engagement pictures, I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous! We all know how unpredictable South Dakota weather can be! We had their date planned for months, and what a beautiful day it turned out to be! The sun shined throughout their whole session. It kept us warm and gave that pretty glow you’ll see in Tara and Ryan’s engagement pictures. And speaking of pretty things… just wait until you see her RING!
Tara: “He is my best friend. We just click. He’s a hard worker. He’s caring. He always knows how to put a smile on my face.”
Ryan: “Everything!”
Tara: “We were going out to eat for our 5 year anniversary dinner. Ryan pulled up to a strip mall in Mitchell, then turned to me and said, “I don’t know how to ask you, but will you go pick out a ring with me to marry me.” I ugly cried, sobbing, saying yes! I didn’t pick out a ring because I was overwhelmed! We left, went out to eat, then that Sunday we went back and we picked one out.”
(And didn’t she pick out a beautiful ring!? My jaw dropped when I first saw it!)

We are so happy for you two! We loved Ryan the first time we met him. So glad he proposed. We’ll take him into the family! He is one lucky man getting our awesome cousin Tara!
