We had so much fun in Pierre, SD for Jordana and John’s wedding! Their day was full of sentiments and surprises, all day long. From their tear-jerking first look, to the gifts that they had planned for each other, this wedding was a photographer’s dream!
The day started at a gorgeous home right on the river. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to views like that?! After Jordana had gotten into her dress, she and her father shared a private first look, and you guys, I’m surprised that my camera lens didn’t fog up from my own tears! It’s clear that she and her father have such a special relationship, and that this moment meant so much to the two of them (scroll down, you’ll see what I mean!). Jordana also had a memento from her parents wedding hidden in her own bouquet. A small blue flower that was in her own mother’s wedding bouquet was placed in her bouquet. I thought this was such a sweet gesture, and I can’t think of a better way to carry on such her parents’ legacy than to pay homage to her parents like this!
We then drove just down the street to the first look with John, her husband-to-be. That took place right next to the South Dakota State Capitol on this sweet little inlet – almost like their own private island! And of course we had to go over to the Capitol and do portraits there, too!
Their reception was at a venue that was new to us – Drifters. It sits right on the Missouri River in Ft. Pierre. It’s filled with tons of large windows that let in so much natural light – and, let you see the gorgeous river outside! So you know we had to head out to the river for their sunset portraits!
Jordana had planned a big surprise for John. She made a video of photos of John and Jordana as kids. At the end of the video was the big kicker — a “best wishes” video from the voice of the Minnesota Vikings, Paul Allen! John is a die hard sports fan and a huge fan of Paul Allen! The wedding party just lost it! It’s clear that this was a huge deal for them! What Jordana didn’t know, though, is that John ALSO had a little trick up his sleeve for her! Brand new pink Jordans for their shoe game! You’ll see those in their reception pictures below!
Jordana and John – thank you so much for choosing us to be the ones to tell your love story. You guys sure know how to party! We were honored to be there for your big day!
