Justin and Morgan had invited me out to his family’s farm near Hitchcock, South Dakota for their engagement session. When we had first arrived, we were greeted by the friendliest St. Bernard’s we had ever met. I think I even got a hug from one of them! After snuggling a little with Morgan and Justin’s corgi, named Jemma, I had a chance to look around the farm. Just like any farm, everywhere you look there were lots of big trucks and tractors (I am the girl who thinks every piece of farm equipment is a tractor). I didn’t know it yet, but one of these trucks held a special place in Justin and Morgan’s love story.
You see, it was in this truck that Justin first decided that he was in love with Morgan, and the rest, as they say, is history. They now live at their own place in the country with their little boy Ty, and will get married this summer! I am counting down the days for their wedding!
It’s been a little while since I’ve blogged a South Dakota engagement session, but that’s because we’ve had tons of beautiful snow on the ground. And you know where ever the snow goes, cold temperatures soon follow. However, Morgan and Justin did not let the chilly temperatures stop them from shooting their engagement session in January! They braved the cold like champs, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be sharing their love story with you!
Morgan + Justin: “We met when two of our mutual friends (my maid of honor and one of his groomsmen) set us up on a blind date. We had the best night talking and dancing and we have been together ever since. We have been dating for about 3 and a half years.”
Morgan: “I love that Justin works so hard to support his family. I love that I feel the safest when I am with him but that he pushes me to do things that are way outside of my comfort zone (going snow snowmobiling in the mountains). I love that he can always make me laugh no matter how bad of a mood I’m in. I love that he’s my biggest supporter and my best friend.”
Morgan: “We were at a theme party, so we had the most ridiculous outfits on. We spent the evening talking with friends, playing yard games, eating yummy food, and laughing together. It was such a fun night spent with friends and each other. On the way home, we noticed how bright the stars were, so we stopped to stargaze and talk for a while. As we were talking about how excited we were for our future together, he stopped and pulled out the most beautiful ring I had ever seen and asked me to be his wife. He told me he had been carrying the ring around with him for a while now, waiting for the perfect moment to ask. He told me that any moment spent with me was the perfect moment and he couldn’t wait any longer to ask. I cried.”
Justin: “I love her sense of humor and how we both laugh at the same stupid jokes. I love the way she helps take care of Ty. Most of all, I love how comfortable we are around each other and that I can be my true self when I’m with her.”
