It was eleven o’clock when he took his place at the front of the church. As Josh stood facing the front of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, dressed to the nines in his black tuxedo, his bride, Erin, started making her way down the aisle toward him. Her gown had the most gemstones I’ve ever seen on a dress, and she sparkled as she gracefully walked down the aisle. She tapped his left shoulder. He turned around. Awestruck, enamored, and speechless. These are the three words I would choose to describe the look on Josh’s face as he slowly turned around to see his bride, Erin, for the very first time on their wedding day. The smiles on their faces lit up the whole room as they soaked this moment in. Today would be the day that they would be married. Husband and wife. Together forever.
Josh and Erin have one of the coolest stories of “how they met”, because Erin is actually originally from North Dakota, and Josh is from Georgia! They met over a bond for music at an organ convention, (Erin’s brother is an organist and Josh is an organ enthusiast!) so it only makes sense that their wedding venue would have one of the most stunning pipe organs in South Dakota. Look for the cute picture of them listening to their organist play a song by request for them! They just loved hearing the music!
Erin told me earlier in their wedding day that she and Josh love the classics. This was evidenced by their first dance (Unforgettable by Natalie Cole) AND their reception venue choice! Summit Events Hall, a charming venue in the historic district of Sioux Falls, was first built in 1903. So much of that elegant charm was preserved so beautifully here. With their love for the classics, it’s no wonder they chose this amazing venue for their wedding reception! Look for all the vintage charm in the detail shots of her flowers and invitations, and especially the details in the reception hall.
Usually by the time supper comes around, I am so hungry that I’m not even sure I taste the food half of the time – but this was not the case on Josh and Erin’s wedding day! They had Johnny Carino’s cater their meal – AKA our FAVORITE restaurant! We may have ate a little too much pasta and bread, but after a big exciting wedding day, we felt like we earned those carbs! Speaking of food – look for the fun foods from Josh’s southern upbringing. On the snack table, you can find fried peanuts from Georgia and their wedding favors were little bags of Georgia pecans!
Enjoy some snapshots from this gorgeous South Dakota wedding!
