When Kelby first told me about their Christmas-time wedding, I thought to myself, “I’ll probably need a new pair of Uggs to shoot this wedding, because there will be soooo. much. snow!” Well, not only was there no snow on the ground, but it was actually a warmer December day! Well, at least it was to start out with. Sticking with true SD weather, though, it got chilly and windy later, because… well it’s South Dakota. We always have crazy weather!
Todd and Kelby’s wedding ceremony took place in a very special little church on the prairie. Not only did Todd and Kelby tie the knot there, but Kelby’s mother, grandmother AND great-grandmother were all married in this same church! She is the fourth generation to be married at the Carpenter United Methodist Church in Carpenter, SD! I can’t even imagine how it must have felt to be in that church again. And relive the day that you were married. AND see your daughter recite her own wedding vows. What an incredible legacy.
Even though it was cold outside, our hearts were all warm while we were watching Todd and Kelby say their vows. There was something about it all that we just adored. Maybe it was the way that they smiled to each other when Pastor Paul would crack a joke with them. Maybe it was all of the beautiful Christmas decorations that filled the church. Or maybe it was how their mothers just grinned the entire time they were exchanging vows. Either way, it was evident how much these two truly love each other, and we were so grateful to be the ones capturing their Christmas-time wedding!
