To say Brittany and Michael’s wedding day was fun, would be a complete understatement.

This day was an absolute blast from beginning to end! They had their wedding at Cedar Shores Resort in Chamberlain, South Dakota. If you aren’t familiar with the area, this resort is right on the river, with a marina nearby. Personally I believe it’s one of the prettiest areas in the state! Brittany and Michael were SOOO excited to see each other for their first looks. And I don’t blame them. They’ve been waiting so patiently to get married, and their big day was here!

Their First Look

They did their first look right by the water. She walked up to him, touched his left shoulder, and he turned around. They both gasped and smiled at each other, both realizing that their wedding day was FINALLY here! When Michael told Brittany how beautiful she looked, though, something was different. Was it the way that he locked in eye contact with her? Was it the giant smile he had? We aren’t sure. But what we do know is that we witnessed some magic during their first look.

Custom Vows for the Ceremony

Brittany and Michael wrote their own vows for the wedding ceremony and we thought that was just the sweetest thing! Their words meant so much to each other, I don’t think there was a dry eye at the ceremony after they read them to each other. Now Jon and I are wishing we would have written our own! A Newlywed Boat Ride

Immediately following the ceremony, everyone got on board a giant boat, and I feel silly even calling it a boat. Was it more like a yacht? This thing was huge. A double decker boat! We had a captain steering the boat that took us all around the river while the wedding party had refreshments and celebrated together. The fresh air felt so good, especially after their ceremony. It was nearly 100 degrees that day, so I’m sure everyone was needing a little break!

 

We feel so lucky to have been a part of this incredible wedding day. Brittany and Michael, thank you so much for choosing us!

Michael’s Vows:

“Brittany, when you walked into my life, you brought love with you. A moment we will always treasure together. As I promise to be true and faithful to you, I promise you other things as well. I promise to restock the toilet paper. I promise to do as many dishes as I can ‘possibly’ stomach. But most importantly I promise to unclog the drain even though I don’t have long hair. All jokes aside Brittany, I promise to love, amaze and astonish you today, tomorrow, and everyday. With all my heart, Michael.”

Brittany’s Vows:

“This day has seemed so far away for so long now. I know it’s because you told me you were going to marry me the first week we met. I laughed, but as you said it, I could tell from your look you weren’t joking.

As we enter this new part of our lives I want to promise you a few things: to be faithful, to be patient with you, as understanding a woman often doesn’t come easy to you, I promise to be your best friend, and to challenge you to be the best version of yourself, as I hope you’ll do for me.

And I only ask you to promise me one thing.  Keep looking at me, the way you did that first week and have continued to since then. Your look is unwavering, giving into anything I ask of you, seeing it drowns out everything else, everything. It is ultimately why we are right here today. We want to build a life together. And as life goes on, gets difficult & messy, all I’ll need is for you to look at me that way, the way you did & are right now.”
