Before I was a photographer, I was a nurse. And I’ll never forget what it used to be like to be in the room when someone was getting CPR. While there are so many people fulfilling so many roles, I always found myself gravitating towards one: talking to the family.
That space of vulnerability, where fear and compassion meet, has always been where I feel most at home. And I believe that same part of me is what led me to boudoir photography.
I’ve walked so many people through their health issues. And it lead me to helping women walk through body dysmorphia too. It is the quiet but heavy messaging so many of us receive as little girls: that we are not enough. That we must fix, change, or shrink ourselves in order to be worthy.
I love stepping into that vulnerable space with you and reminding you of the truth. Those messages are myths. They always have been.
In my Sioux Falls studio, I’ve walked hundreds of women through this journey of rediscovery. I’ve taken the journey myself, too. And let me tell you, it’s not always about the bold declarations or a loud parade of self-love. More often, it’s found in the quiet moments.
In the stillness of looking at yourself in a photo. And for the first time in a long time, truly seeing yourself. When was the last time you saw multiple photos of yourself in a row, and loved them all? I would dare to say maybe that’s never happened before.
But this is your invitation to an experience that will leave you feeling calm. Whole. Worthy.
That’s why I love this work so deeply. It’s not just about beautiful images (though yes, we will create those together!). It’s about the experience of being safe, seen, and celebrated.
“100% would recommend Emma on a boudoir shoot!! She definitely knows her stuff and the outcome was more than I could have ever hoped for! I wasn’t sure how my day would go and how my photos would turn out but let me tell you it was AMAZING!!!! Emma made me feel so comfortable. We talked and laughed through the entire session. But wait, let me get to the pictures… STUNNING! I had a hard time choosing which ones to get! Trust me, call Emma and book today! You won’t regret it!”
Those words remind me why I do what I do. Helping women feel safe. Watching you find your footing again. Helping you realize the truth was there, underneath the fear, all along.
If you’re ready to step into that space of vulnerability, and walk out with confidence and joy, I’d be honored to walk with you. Because this is why I am a boudoir photographer.
Boudoir photography celebrates all the ways your crazy beautiful body has held you up, moved you forward, and turned you into a woman who can get. it. done. Sis, that is something that should make you proud.
I’m Emma, a Sioux Falls Boudoir Photographer. This is experience is more than photos, this is art you’ll carry for a lifetime. I bring the same compassion I once carried as a nurse into every session, so you leave not just with portraits—but with proof of the woman you’ve always been.
