This session is a perfect example of why you don’t need a milestone to book a session. We tend to think of photo sessions as something you “save” for a special event. Think: an anniversary, a wedding, a birthday, or some other big moment.
Boudoir isn’t just about marking an occasion: it is the occasion. It’s about celebrating the confidence you have been growing. Stepping into the self-love you’ve cultivated. And making it tangible.
These sessions are life-giving. They’re about pausing the chaos of everyday life to remember who you are beneath all the hats you wear. You’re a partner, parent, friend, professional… whatever role you fulfill in your life. Sometimes they can seem all consuming.
But stepping outside of that, and having time for just yourself? And then having tangible proof of what you already know deep down (that you are strong, beautiful, and worthy)… that can be the spark that amplifies your confidence for weeks, months, and even years after your session.
That’s exactly why this beautiful client booked her shoot. She told me she wanted to do this for herself, to feel more comfortable in her own body. Yes, she’s gifting the photos to her significant other of almost 10 years, but at the heart of it, this was about seeing herself with fresh eyes. (This is what I call a win-win).
When I asked her to describe a woman she admired, she said: “Confident in her looks and body. Isn’t afraid to show herself… confidence in her own skin.” That’s exactly who she showed up as in front of my camera.
For her session, she wore a sultry black lace set that played perfectly with the warm, moody light in the studio. We mixed soft, lounging poses with a touch of drama… like the sheer lace robe draped casually over her shoulders as she leaned into the golden light coming through the window.
Each look captured a different facet of her. Soft yet strong, grounded yet playful, sensual yet completely herself. One of my goals as a Sioux Falls boudoir photographer, is capturing the complexity and nuance of who you are.
Because here’s the thing: you don’t have to wait until you’ve hit a “goal”. You don’t need a milestone to book.
Your story is worth documenting exactly as it is right now. And sometimes, giving yourself permission to see that, to own that truth with your full chest… is the most empowering gift you can give yourself.
So, if you’ve been waiting for the “perfect time” to book your boudoir session, here’s your sign. That time is now. Reach out here.
Boudoir photography celebrates all the ways your crazy beautiful body has held you up, moved you forward, and turned you into a woman who can get. it. done. Sis, that is something that should make you proud.
