Justine and I met two days before my own wedding when I was frantically searching for a dentist in town. I needed an emergency teeth cleaning to make sure my teeth were bright and shiny for my wedding! Justine was my dental hygienist for that visit and of course my teeth looked perfect for my wedding 😊

Although we are playing vastly different roles in each other’s weddings, it’s still funny to think about what a very small world it is.

Now, is this information necessary for you to know to appreciate their engagement session? No. But it’s still a fun part of how we met.😊

Justine and Cole’s engagement session took place at his country home near Wessington, South Dakota. Look for cool details like the classic blue pickup that he restored, his grandpa’s barn, and the cottonwood tree that could make anyone feel tiny. And just wait until you hear their engagement story! The light, laughter, and smiles during this session, makes it one of my favorites.

Justine: “His charming personality, how he makes life so simple, his adventurous character, his good advice, and his smile & calm blue eyes. I also love seeing how Cole plays with Ben (his dog). He is so good to him.”

What things do you love the most about her?

Cole: “She’s beautiful, ambitious, unselfish, and loves to clean.”

What’s your favorite go-to date?

Justine & Cole: “Going to the Sunset for a bite to eat and a drink or two. We usually are working late so bootcut jeans and work boots are usually our attire.”

Tell me how he proposed

Justine: “It was my birthday (Aug. 21st, Solar Eclipse Day). My boss decided to take the day off to see this rare occasion and I was completely okay with it beings it was my birthday. I spent the whole day with Cole. We spent the morning at Cole’s Grandpa’s Farm, working on Old Orange (Cole’s latest restoration pickup), playing with kittens in the barn, and picking pears from the pear tree in the backyard. After dinner and cake (Cole’s Step Grandma, Mary, made for me), we drove around to look at fields. After that, Cole pulled up to his driveway and I decided to go lay on the hammock by the garden. After about 10 mins, Cole came walking out with a large box wrapped in duct tape (he didn’t have enough wrapping paper) and a Mikes Hard Black Cherry Lemonade. Cole sat down right next to me as I unwrapped the large box. I could hear something small rolling around. After I finished, I pulled out a small jewelry box. I opened the box and there was a ring, completely shocked, I kept asking Cole if he was serious! With tear filled eyes, Cole asked me to marry him and he did eventually get down on one knee. We spent the rest of my birthday, calling my family and friends and visiting his family. It was a wonderful 25th Birthday.”
