It was a warm and sunny August day. She stepped into her white gown while her mother helped her with each button. She turned to face her mother. They smiled at each other. Their vision was blurry from the tears of joy welling up in their eyes.
Her dad waited. Standing with his back toward her, she tapped on his left shoulder. He turned to face his daughter in her wedding dress. A smile emerged across his face and he wrapped his daughter in a warm embrace.
“I love you so much,” he told his daughter. “You look beautiful.” And she did.
Knowing Morgan since we were young made shooting her wedding even more special to me. I told her parents that I love shooting weddings when I know the couple personally; it makes those little moments so incredible because I get to bear witness to one of my great friends being walked down the aisle by her daddy, but also get to capture it behind the camera! As a wedding photographer, I swear I have the greatest job ever.
Their ceremony was held in my own home church, The First United Methodist Church of Huron, which made this day extra special for me. There’s something different about standing in front of a church singing in the praise team, and standing in front of a church photographing a wedding! The aisles were decorated with white tulle and lots of baby’s breath inside of mason jars! This gave the perfect light and soft look for a beautiful bride to walk down the aisle.
And the best part of shooting in my home church? I left one of my camera batteries charging in a room, and took off to the reception without it. Typically I do not leave things behind, so I was very lucky that this was at my own church and I could grab it the next day! 🙂
Tips for Brides: The First United Methodist Church of Huron can seat as many as 400-500 people, so if you have a large guest list, this is a great indoor location to check out!
The Huron Event Center is where Morgan and Justin’s wedding reception was held! They had the room decorated from the floor to the ceiling with beautiful purple uplighting, heavy greenery, complete with these amazing hoops made of leaves and greenery, and a monogram “B” right in the middle! There were green cloth napkins everywhere (perfect for their emerald wedding!), sparkling rose gold wine bottles and white lanterns filled with florals and candles. Their decorations were completely ON POINT so make sure you check that out down below!
Tips for Brides: The Huron Event Center is located in downtown Huron, and it conveniently connects the Huron Arena and the Crossroads Hotel! It’s the perfect location if you want to have a couple cocktails with your bridal party, because no one has to drive home! You can just stay right in the hotel! 🙂
Morgan and Justin have this amazing connection between the two of them. When they joke and laugh with each other, you can tell immediately that they are each other’s best friends. Which is exactly my definition of a perfect couple 🙂 I don’t think either of them stopped smiling on their incredible wedding day. Seriously, the Boomsmas were super fun to work with, and I’m so happy that I got to share this day with them! Morgan and Justin – It was a blessing to be a part of your day!
