Those are the three words I would use to describe McKenzie’s senior session. She was attracted to my photography style because the bright, pastel colors in my images are her favorite colors, too. With her award-winning smile and amazing personality, I could tell immediately that we were going to get along great!
McKenzie wears a lot of hats, literally! She is a very busy girl – she is Miss Mitchell Outstanding Teen, Miss South Dakota Outstanding Teen Runner Up, she is heavily involved in rodeo, she is a pole vaulting superstar, her faith is very important to her, and (my favorite) she’s one of my Emma Christine Photography Senior Spokesmodels! McKenzie was chosen for her outgoing personality, her kindness, and her involvement in her community. She is an incredible role model for young women, and I am so lucky to get to know her this year as one of my Spokesmodels! When McKenzie is around, all of the other girls are always smiling. She brings a bright light into any room she walks into, and her smile is so infectious that I found myself smiling at my computer while editing her session!
As a female photographer, I can’t tell you how much of a blessing it is to show young women how naturally radiant and beautiful they are. My favorite thing to do is show off true beauty – no heavy-handed skin smoothing or teeth whitening here! Our society places so much importance on feeling “good enough” or “pretty enough” or whatever. You are enough, just as you are. And professional hair and makeup always accentuate that, especially on camera. I am so lucky to work with one of Huron’s best hair and makeup artists, Kahlie Smith. She always helps my girls feel a little pampered before they get to show off for the camera. When you’re confident in front of the camera, you’ll love your pictures even more. Preparing for a senior portrait session is stressful in and of itself. Trying to do your hair + makeup by yourself can make things even harder. Professional camera equipment is designed to pick up every little detail in an image, so hiring a professional makeup artist like Kahlie is the best way to go. Plus, who doesn’t like to be pampered every now and then? I don’t ever want my seniors to feel like their portrait session is simply “taking pictures”, I want it to be an EXPERIENCE. And in my experience, the best way to start off is by feeling good about the way you look, and for me, that starts with hiring a hair and makeup artist! 🙂
I am so excited to show you a little peek at McKenzie’s senior session!
Boudoir photography celebrates all the ways your crazy beautiful body has held you up, moved you forward, and turned you into a woman who can get. it. done. Sis, that is something that should make you proud.
I’m Emma, a Sioux Falls Boudoir Photographer. Helping people feel their best has always been part of who I am. Before focusing on photography, I worked as a nurse, and now I use that same expert care to help women feel like a million bucks. Oh my gosh, it is the best.
